Beauty And Happiness

A Story By Kahlil Gibran:
In the deep sea, two oysters were talking to each other. First one said,” I have a very great pain within me. It is heavy and round and I am in distress.”
Second one replied with haughty satisfaction ,” God is so great, I am so happy. I am well and whole both within and without.”
At the moment, a crab, who was hearing the words of both, said to the one who was well and whole both within and without ,” yes, you are well and whole; but the pain that your neighbour bears is a pearl of exceeding beauty.”

Just Contemplate it. Would you like to interpolate a relation between happiness and beauty?

Fields bear the pain of being ploughed to grow beautiful plants.
A mother bears the pain to unleash the utmost beauty of creativity.
Sun burns itself to light the world.
Thorns grow before the roses bloom.
Even trees have to be naked before having beautiful leaves.

The beauty of one's deeds will certainly ovecome the pain of one's sorrows. Very few are so fortunate to do so. Always there were people who did this. Buddha did; Mahavira did; Jesus did; Gandhi did; Mother Teresa did. Now it's our turn.Would you like to spread beauty at the cost of your sorrows?

Cheers!!

sorry to bump once again....
but ur story made me to think a little bit more..
Now I think: why is it necessary that we go through a period of pain to get happiness....
can't there be a better way.......
that we don't waste our time in going through that pain....
@R S V
Thanks for the question... :)
it would not be necessary if we did have a choice between suffering and happiness..

But what Nature reveals is beauty and sorrows are not independent...

In a same way we can say happiness and sorrows are not apart.....
In a practical world where happiness is to be pursued... people don't have(spiritual people may have)....one need to face hardship in life...
if we ponder deeply our so called happiness is rooted deep in our sorrows..
Like if one get a Job- He is happy
if not- he is unhappy..
The basis of our happiness is one- Job
So ,we can not isolate the two(happiness and sorrows), can we?
So what I intend to say from this post is if ever you are facing any hardship in getting your goals, accept it with complete gratitude as it is a law of nature...

Cheers!!

I agree. If you feel pain you can be happy. But I feel it is little illogical to spend rs50 to get rs50. My exploration is to find eternal happiness. Btw, can you also explain what is beauty? I am very interested to know what you think on a seperate topic beauty as it is one of the long standing doubts in my mind. May be I think I didnt understand it from your post.

It's a very debating topic, I guess..
Well, I can not say exactly what beauty is...as it sometimes appears psychological, relative and different for different people.....
But we can not deny the relation of pain and beauty....
As both may appear psychological, relative and different...
I would call everything which is not source of happiness but itself an happiness .. beautiful..
.
For an example, when we meet our loved one after a longtime... our eyes become full of tears.. We cry...But we feel happiness...I would call it beauty....
But how am I able to witness this beauty?...because I have already bore the pain of being away from her...
The source of happiness is the pain...But Pain itself is not the happiness.....

As in Gita ,it is explained " Samatwam Yogam Uchyette" (Being equal in every situation is Yoga) which itself claims that being neutral is only way we can come out from both happiness and sorrows.... (in other way we can say happiness and sorrows are interrelated)

I would like to have a separate post on this topic soon.. would like to elaborate it as much as possible..

Cheers!!

To bear what is natural to you can only give happiness. Otherwise, all beauty is just delusion of senses. Can't explain my point clearly in words here and will meet to talk about it in future. I really like your point that " Samatwam Yogam Uchyette" (Being equal in every situation is Yoga) which itself claims that being neutral is only way we can come out from both happiness and sorrows..
Pranam My Amit,

I am damn upset now, that you are hitting even above my head! I feel pity on myself that I became grave late to reach your posts! Deep man-you are deep, and that’s why-you are my private property! I don’t know dear, I am at brims now, that I met you, I realized you.. your replays to the comments-that itself-made me filled with the subjective truths with which you live and with which you perceive. God was very kind to your Mom, He chose her to bless her with a son-but of His father! Yea? Yea. I really really love your eyes, that transcends beyond the waves but by sitting in front of the ocean. Let you be same even after the storms of time. Pain! Yes dear, pain pains for pearls! Pearls wont be pearls without pains. You reached there simply. Your aura illuminates with pains and the objects which receive the reflections of the illuminations are said as fruits-got me? No, I mean the reflections are the beauty, happiness, successes and all-but all these reflections are reflected from the self illuminating pains…. Pains only will have illuminating nature, pleasures are reflections ok? I know you are there already, that’s why I feel comfortable now with the same ‘language’ communication.

Then my great soul, you again own from my supper-Geetha-Hey, Nice it is… you knew the key, that’s why you explained ‘samathwam yogam uchyathe’. Hahahahaaaa…. You made my life meaningful by simply stating that fact. ‘Yogam’-Yes, that is ‘samathwam’, may I take you to the bottom? Then come with me-‘samathwam’ – the sameness, is the Ultimate and that state is the beginning and end of the subjective realization. Then that type of ‘samathwam’-sameness cant be achievable in the platforms of our objective life, because that ‘samathwam’ is a subjective fact-how can a subjective fact be realized through the objective reality? Impossible! Still possible, for that-pain comes up. Bear the pain to forget the apparent outer world-then you can sense ‘samathwam’-and that is ‘yogam’. So sameness is the end and beginning of the whole.

Let me Make out the same little more clear? ‘Yogam’- ‘Samathwam yoga uchyathe’
And please know: ‘Apraapthasya praapanaaha ithi yogaaha’ Reaching to the unreachable is yoga. The true interpretation of ‘yogam’ by my father Shankara-I mean Adi Shankara.
I feel I am relaxed now, for many reasons. You are a reason for the time being, and I hope you will make my life worthwhile ever-by making your life worthwhile ever!

Still, pain sometimes, when endured for long, gives awesome results.. Rightly quoted the Gibran story.. :)
Everyone goes through pain to be better. Not many survive the pain though. :)

You write very simple, yet effective....
Though it has a feel good factor and quite impacting, i had to keep the factor of rational thinking and objectivism aside, to perceive the emotional interpretation...
may be because my perception is relative.
